ULTRAFINE FLY ASH: ASTM C-618
The Flyanic technology readily allows a variety of potential value added products to be created with tailored target finenesses and performance. The products resulting from this grinding method compare favorably with other known cement replacement products such as metakaolin, silica fume, and Boral’s Micron3. But the Flyanic product is at a much lower cost. Among the significant technical and perform-ance related findings observed to date for the en-hanced products are the low water demand; set times are almost identical to the Control; and dramatic im-provement in pozzolanic reactivity and early strength development. Products with median particle sizes in the 6-10 μm range are comparable in reactivity with blast furnace slag; whereas Flyanic products in the 3-4 μm range are comparable with silica fume and meta-kaolin — but notably without the very high water demand. The accompanying charts and pictures are actual results obtained from recent testing. The tests and pictures were conducted by a large, independent and respected laboratory.
